What courses do you take in the Academy?

We offer English and French (beginner, intermediate and advanced) language learning courses, linguistics tutorial courses and exam preparation classes for now. However, we are currently working on adding Chinese, German and Spanish beginner courses soon. You can subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on the introduction of the courses.

Who can enroll into your programs?

The institute enrolls candidates based on 3 criteria. First, social classification – children, teenagers and adults. Second, level of learning – beginner, intermediate and advanced learners. Lastly, adult groups – under, postgraduate students and researchers.

Can I take French Intermediate Program without starting from the Beginner Program?

Yes, of course. However at the beginning of the program or even Advanced course, students have to take a placement test. The result serves as yardstick for grouping them according to their levels and to further counsel them to start from the beginner or intermediate level again or better to proceed onto the advanced level on a probationary or good standing basis.

What are the programs available for working class professionals?

For working adults, the Institute provides part-time programs. These programs  are  offered  to  adults,  who,  due  to  their  professional engagements, would not be able to attend the Full Time courses. A.O.S Academy provides  those  adults  with  the  opportunity  to learn French  through the  evening class  or the  weekend class either in class or in their private offices in case they live too far from the institute.

When does admissions starts for each program?

Our calendar abides by a quarter system. That is, all courses and programs run on a three (3) months basis – January, April, July and October. Admission to any of these programs at these periods starts at least 2 weeks in advance and all applications are welcome up until two weeks after resumption of that quarter.

Can I pay in installments?

We accept installment payments for some services but not all. You can pay in halves for French combined courses like beginner and intermediate classes for TEF test preparation and research assistance services above $100 (#36,000) but we do not accept installments for linguistic tutorial classes. And we do have the Pay-small-small plan which allows you to pay 3-4 times but with some added fees and conditions.

May I know what facilities the Institute has?

In a Duplex, the institute has well-lit lecture rooms, classrooms of various sizes and individual study rooms are installed around a delightful interior.  A 100% multimedia teaching environment offering innovative learning can be accessed on and off the center: e-learning platform, designated social media and remote access to databases and school materials (e-books, electronic periodicals, specialised databases, etc.

Which courses do you have for IELTS or DELF test takers?

There are three main classes through which we prepare students for the IELTS, TEF Canada, TOEFL, TCF, DELF-DALF exams. They are listed below together with their prices and benefits; Full time (3 days a week for 5 weeks), Part-time (weekends for 3 weeks and Online (3 weeks for a month).

Are the courses taken online or at the Institute?

Thanks for that question. All our courses are very much flexible to the needs of the learners. Hence, they can be taken either online or offline depending on your preferences. Though, for those living in the city of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, they can take a blending learning approach by mixing both the online and offline platforms.

Which extracurricular activities are included in the language programs?

The programs allow for a varied range of social educative activities like sports, talks, debates, quizzes, shows, movie nights, excursions, social media chats among others. Most of these are free while others require a few token for participation.

Do you have accommodation for applicants out of Ilorin?

A.O.S Academy has an accommodation platform that assists with:

  • Finding/offering a rental/sale apartment
  • Finding accommodation mate(s) and organising rent shares
  • Finding/offering temporary rooms 
How many tutorial classes do you have and how do they run?

The sessions are of three main types; private (1-2 students in a class), group (3-10) and public (11+). The duration for the tutorial sessions is just one (1) calendar month or less. Timings for all studies and tutorials will be dependent on the course(s) chosen and leisure hours or free time tables given by the candidates, however they will hold at least thrice a week with other departmental students.

How can I register myself for the program?

You can always get registered by getting your application form, filling and submitting it. After, you select the courses you want to take and pay the required tuition fees either online via our payment integration platforms, bank transfers or direct payment deposits to our official Naira or Dollar Accounts in the Guaranty Trust Bank and start learning.

Are your programs certified?

Absolutely yes! The institute issues national language proficiency certificates to successful language learners at various levels after haven taken and excelled in their respective exams. Also, we apply candidates to take Internationally Recognised Language Tests like IELTS, DELF-DALF, TEF Canada, etc for lifetime diplomas and foreign approved test results.

How are the academic activities scheduled weekly?

Academic activities hold from Monday to Friday and even weekends. However, candidates can choose from 3 main class types; regular (Monday-Wednesday: 10:00am-2:00pm), evening (Wednesday-Friday: 4:00pm-7:00pm) and weekends (Saturday and Sunday: 2:00pm-5:00pm).  Twice a week, from 5.30 pm  to  7.00  pm,  students take  part  in  sporting  activities. They also take part on daily basis in the socio-educative activities both offline and online starting from 7.00pm. Friday nights are exclusive for French Movie Night at the Academy’s cinema hall. Students converge on Saturday mornings to have a group socio-cultural and educative activity.
